The SO Teams
We are an ever-growing group of local people. We range from villagers with highly specialist skills such as engineers, environmental and biodiversity specialists, through to teachers, farmers, parish councillors, stay-at-home parents, and simply PWC (People Who Care).
The Energy Team
The energy team is investigating ways that Overton can produce its own energy. we are looking into community energy projects, where local people invest in local renewable energy sources. We have the ambitious target of trying to become 100% self-sustainable for our local electricity needs by 2030. We are currently applying for grants to help fund the scoping phase and looking into putting solar panels on the roofs of some of our public buildings.
We are a small group of volunteers and would love to hear from you if you have technical expertise in: legal and contract review, organisational governance, planning regulations, solar or other renewable energies.

The Environment Team
The environment team has been researching the possibility of planting trees to mitigate our carbon footprint, exploring how climate change will affect the local environment, and what action we need to take to mitigate. Overton has currently only 5% tree cover, and the Woodland Trust advice is to have 19%. We would love to hear from anyone interested in joining us.
