LET'S CHANGE THINGS TOGETHER
We are your local sustainability group and our aim is to inspire the community to take action on the climate and biodiversity emergencies. Let's work together on increasing the biodiversity of our green spaces, reducing plastics in our lives, saving energy and making more sustainable choices when we buy. There are so many ways to get involved. Want to be part of the solution?
LOCAL PROJECTS

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Ever since SO first started, it has been a priority to connect with local people. We love to engage with the children in our community as well as meeting community members out and about. If you have an idea for a sustainability collaboration in the village, get in touch and let's make it happen.

OVERTON CONSERVATION
On the last Saturday of the month at 10am-12pm, we meet to work on enhancing the biodiversity of one of our green sites in the village.
We have tools, gloves and always tea and biscuits for our hardworking volunteers. Click below to learn more about what we do and find out how you can get involved.

SO BI-MONTHLY MEETINGS
On the second Monday of every other month (starting month January) at 8pm, the SO strategy group meet with all the volunteers from all the different groups to discuss what is coming up on our busy calendar.
We always welcome new, interested villagers without any pressure to join. We are more than happy to hear your ideas for how we can inspire Overton to become even more sustainable. Maybe you have an idea for a new group? Click below to find out when and where the next meeting takes place. We'd love to see you.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
If you’re wild about nature or passionate about sustainability, then SO is for you. Are you full of good ideas as to how we can all live more sustainably? Do you love the outdoors? Can you fix things? Are you into pre-loved clothes?
Help us inspire the good people of Overton through campaigns, practical work outdoors and fun events.

WHAT CAN I DO IN MY GARDEN?
The Basingstoke Green Team provide free garden survey to help you find out what you can do in your garden to assist our pollinators and local wildlife. CLICK HERE to book.
On their website, Natural Basingstoke has put together lots of things you can do in your community or your own garden to promote biodiversity. They call it Random Acts of Wilderness.
WHY WE DO THIS AND WHY IT MATTERS
There are so many reasons why we volunteer with SO, but the main motivation comes from a desire to make a tangible difference within the local community. And we do that!
When it comes to climate change it all adds up. Joining a community group is an individual action that turns into community action. If we all make the changes and e.g. eat less meat, create wildlife gardens, fly less, buy less and waste less, then it all adds up to big changes. Together people are powerful.
