CLOTHES SWAP

Clothes Swapping - or swishing or swap shop - is the best way to update your wardrobe without spending money. Knowing that these clothes are staying out of landfill whilst also giving someone else a new-to-them treasure is so rewarding.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
  1. Drop your donations between 11am-12 pm* and get your tokens**

  2. We hang all the clothes. They will be sorted by item & size (just like in a normal shop)

  3. Return at 11.50am for a browse - first 4 through the door gets a copy of the book “How to break up with fast fashion”

  4. Swap starts at 12pm

  5. Choose your new-to-you items. Try them on in the changing room at the back of the hall. Pay for your new treasures using your tokens

  6. Scan the QR code to fill in the feedback form (e.g. so we know if you want this event to return next year?)

  7. Share your finds on the socials #sustainableoverton

  8. Swap ends at 2pm

*We will accept clothes throughout the swap as well, but to make it more manageable please aim to bring your clothes between 11am-12pm.

**No clothes to swap? No problem, get one token on entry and go find that one special item!

THE GUIDELINES

WHO'S BEHIND THE SWAP?

Along with people from the Repair Café, we also have help from The Overton Guides and their leaders as well as friends and other SO volunteers on the day. If you would like to help out, please use the email link below. We would love to hear from you.

You may recognise Gitte from elsewhere on this website, because she is the SO Website and Comms Lead. She helped arrange the Slow Fashion Show in 2024 and even crocheted some of the pieces worn at the show. Gitte makes many of her own clothes and is getting much better at mending or customising old pieces in her wardrobe, rather than buying new.
