LET'S TRAVEL GREENER

Emissions from transport is a global problem, but that doesn't mean you can't do something to help reduce CO2 in your day-to-day life. Below we explore some of the more environmentally friendly options you have when you need to get from A to B.

EV charging London Road

SHOULD MY NEXT CAR BE AN EV?

Yes, is the obvious answer to that question. EVs are becoming cheaper, more efficient and charging points more widespread throughout the country. In Overton, we have two public charging points with multiple fast MER 22kW chargers. Find them in both our London Road car parks. To explore charging points across the borough and the UK, check out Zap-Map.. They also offer helpful guides on different charger types and how to use them.

SHARE A RIDE

Could you share your ride? Sharing car journeys with colleagues or neighbors for work, school, or activities is a brilliant way to cut down on emissions and save money. Check out Liftshare to find potential matches in our area.

SHOULD MY NEXT CAR BE AN E-BIKE INSTEAD?

As we are all too aware, there is a distinct lack of cycle lanes in and around Overton. An electric bike might be just the thing to empower you to navigate traffic a little easier. You will get that boost up the hill or setting off from a full stop. While dedicated cycle lanes are undoubtedly the ideal infrastructure for safe and comfortable cycling, an electric bike can still be a compelling and an even safer option than a regular bike empowering you to cycle with greater ease, speed, and confidence.

BEST OPTION FOR LONGER JOURNEYS
You guessed it! Getting the train or the bus! Relying less on cars is a crucial step in reducing our carbon footprint and combating climate change. Even if it's a small change for you, collective action can make a big difference for future generations. On a train or bus, you can read, work, relax, or catch up on emails – time that would be spent focusing on driving -- making your journey more productive and enjoyable.

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT FLYING??
How about deciding to holiday closer to home? If you holiday somewhere that doesn't require you to fly, for 2 years in a row, then you can "sustainably" get a short-haul flight to some whiter beaches every 3 years (if everyone else agrees to this plan and does the same as you!!). This is according to Take the Jump which bases this advice on extensive research - read more HERE.
